Public Transport: A digital experience

With the eJourney app, you can automatically document the journeys you make on public transport (PT) - like a digital travel diary.

Public transport is becoming increasingly important worldwide. No other public sector transports so many people on a regular basis. As a public transport passenger, the responsible transport companies are offering you ever more favourable services and are working hard every day to constantly improve the service for you. Public transport should be there when you need it - anywhere and at any time.

Today you can purchase increasingly flexible ticket offers that allow you to make optimum use of public transport for yourself and your family, both regionally and even (inter)nationally. Thanks to their favourable price-performance ratio, the flat-rate season tickets for public transport (e.g. Deutschlandticket, Generalabonnement, Klimaticket) also offer you more and more flexibility.

Providing and improving the infrastructure that gets millions of passengers safely from A to B every day is exciting and constantly challenging. That's why you can help to make your public transport system fit for the future.

Automatic documentation of public transport journeys

The aim is to gain a better overview of passenger behaviour, especially when using season tickets.  With the help of the eJourney app, your smartphone becomes a digital travel assistant that documents your journeys on public transport in a safe, uncomplicated and meaningful way. You yourself will receive a digital travel diary and can help to make public transport services even better for everyone in the future.

Invitation by a transport company

You can only use the eJourney app by invitation. Perhaps you will be contacted by one - or more - public transport companies you already know, asking you to take part in a survey campaign. Then join in!

The invitation will also provide you with details about the reason for the survey, the duration, your contact persons, data protection and also whether you will receive an incentive if you participate.

How do you get the eJourney app?

If you are invited by a transport association or a public transport company to take part in a survey campaign, you can download the eJourney app from the Google or Apple app stores.

The invitation will tell you everything you need to know about installing the app. You will also receive an invitation code with which you can log in to the app. The app is easy to use and gives you an uncomplicated overview of how you travel by public transport.

Maximum security and data protection

When using the eJourney app, you can rely on mandatory compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Strict rules apply to the collection of data.

The eJourney app can enhance your security with additional measures. Firstly, the app is not directly aware of your personal identity. Secondly, it can be ensured that the app only collects data when you are in the direct vicinity of public transport. The inviting public transport partner then equips its means of transport/stops digitally on a case-by-case basis.
